Carpathia School is a single story building which can easily accomodate students and
adults who have physical needs.
Assets of the building include a handicapped accessible washroom and grooming facilities.
Special
Education students are integrated into the regular classroom programs..
Supports are provided to special education students based on needs identified by teachers,
parents, and other professionals who are familiar with the students abilities,
achievements and learning needs. Previous school records and informal/formal assessments
are used to determine the level of support needed.
The resource program is based on a consultative, collaborative, and direct service
delivery model.
Consultation involves discussion and sharing of ideas and materials
regarding the student and/or the class.
Collaboration involves the resource teacher teaming with other
professionals, particularly the classroom teacher and/or teaching assistants to assist
with meeting the needs of students in a variety of ways. This may include: team teaching,
small group and/or individual instruction.
Direct Service involves individual and group assessments, individual and
group modifications/enrichment programs and English as a Second Language Support.
Volunteer Program Community members and parents/guardians are encouraged
and invited to bring their expertise and experience to the school environment.
