A Message From
Kristine Barr, Chair -
The Winnipeg School Board
“Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” –
Margaret Mead.
This is
one of my favourite quotes and serves to remind me of what the nine
members of the Board of Trustees of the Winnipeg School Division can
accomplish.
Together,
we can, and will make a difference.
This
Board is entrusted with an awesome task: to oversee the management
of this educational system comprised of 77 schools, over 33,000
students and just over 5,300 staff members. Fortunately our task is
made easier because of the devoted staff that makes up the heart of
this Division. It is through staff members’ knowledge and expertise
that we are able to provide a wide range of programming to meet the
diverse needs of all students in the Winnipeg School Division.
Parents/guardians play a big role in the support of students and
schools. In addition we also have a large number of volunteers who
work directly with students and in support of our schools.
Together,
we make up a very strong team committed to the best public education
system we can provide for our children.
